This Cookie Policy explains how Bermevents (operated by Aaron de Silva, trading as Bermevents) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit bermevents.com. It is part of our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.

1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They help the site remember information about your visit, like whether you are signed in, what you have in your basket, or which pages you looked at.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by bermevents.com directly) or "third-party" (set by another service that loads content on our pages, like a payment processor or an analytics provider).
Cookies can also be "session" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" (stored until they expire or you delete them).
We also use similar technologies like local storage, session storage, and pixel tags. Where this policy refers to "cookies", it includes these similar technologies.
2. Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories based on what they do.
2.1 Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the site to work. They let you sign in, keep you signed in while you browse, and protect your session from being hijacked. Without them, the service does not function.
You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies. If you disable them in your browser, the site will not work properly.
Examples:
- Supabase auth session cookie (first-party, set via our Supabase backend). Keeps you signed in. Expires based on your session length or when you sign out.
- Checkout.com payment session cookie (third-party, set during checkout). Used during the hosted payment flow to tie your session to the order. Expires after the payment flow ends.
2.2 Functional
These cookies let the site remember choices you make (e.g., preferred language, region, theme) so you do not have to set them again.
Examples:
- Theme preference (first-party, local storage). Remembers light or dark mode.
You can opt out of functional cookies by disabling them in your browser. The site will still work but forget your preferences.
2.3 Analytics
These cookies help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it. They typically collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data (pages viewed, time on page, referrer).
We aim to use privacy-respecting analytics (like Plausible, which does not set any cookies and does not collect personal data) wherever possible. Where we use a provider that does set cookies, we disclose it here.
Examples (subject to change as we finalize our analytics stack):
- Vercel Analytics (first-party via Vercel). Measures page performance and traffic in aggregate. Does not set traditional cookies; uses a short-lived identifier.
- Plausible Analytics (first-party, if enabled). Cookieless. No personal data collected.
You can opt out of analytics cookies using our cookie consent banner (coming soon) or by using a browser with tracking protection (like Firefox, Brave, or Safari).
2.4 Marketing
These cookies track you across sites to enable advertising that is more relevant to your interests. We do not set any marketing cookies at launch. If we add marketing cookies in the future (e.g., Meta Pixel, Google Ads conversion pixels), we will update this policy and provide an opt-in mechanism before activating them.
3. Cookies set by third parties
When you pay for a ticket, you are redirected to Checkout.com's hosted payment page. Checkout.com sets its own cookies on that page, governed by Checkout.com's cookie notice. We do not control those cookies. They exist to process the payment safely.
When we send you email via Resend (our email delivery provider), Resend may include tracking pixels to measure email opens. This is standard for transactional email and is covered by Resend's privacy practices.
If you subscribe to our newsletter (powered by Klaviyo, once enabled), Klaviyo sets cookies on bermevents.com to personalise what you see and to measure whether our emails lead you back to the site. Details are in Klaviyo's privacy notice. You will only receive these cookies after you opt in to the newsletter.
4. How to control cookies
4.1 Browser controls
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies.
- Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings, Privacy
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy and Security
- Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions
Check your browser's help for exact steps.
4.2 Our cookie consent banner (coming soon)
At launch, we will provide a cookie consent banner that lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. We will update this policy when the banner is live.
4.3 Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. We respect this signal by not loading analytics that rely on cookies when the signal is present.
5. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this policy as we add or remove cookie-setting services. Material changes will be announced by email (for registered users) or by banner on the site, with 30 days' notice.
